The parish of South Huish comprises the villages of Hope Cove and Galmpton and the hamlet of South Huish, in the South Hams area of South Devon. The parish is in an area of outstanding natural beauty which lies between Dartmoor and the sea with the Eddystone light 16 nautical miles out to sea. Tourism is the principal business followed by agriculture and there are several large farms within the parish. Hope Cove was once a busy fishing village but now fishing is done on a very small scale, mainly crabs and lobster.
Malborough, South Milton and Thurlestone are adjacent parishes with the towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe approx. 6 miles away. The resident population of the parish is less than 500 and there are over 70% second homes.
The Parish Council consists of 7 Councillors and a part-time Clerk. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, every month.
