County Competition Regulations.

 

*The current Laws of the Sport of Bowls shall apply in all circumstances not covered by these Rules*

 

1.      All competitions are open to all members of clubs affiliated to the County Association

2.      The County will be split into 2 areas, East and West. TheCompetition Secretary/ Secretaries/ League Secretaries will be nominated at The Annual General Meeting each year or by the Officers of the Association to run the competitions. The Competition Secretary will produce a Finals programme. Dates for the finals will be set by the County Secretary.

3.      All competitions to be played under the EIBA Ltd rules.

4.     All games are to start with 2 trial ends and times are all excluding Trial Ends and Extra Ends.

Early Stages to be played on RoundRobin basis of 6 ends each game.    2 points for win, 1 point for draw then highest shots.

5.      A player entering the Under 12’s Open Singles, Under 15’s OpenSingles, Under 18s Open Singles and Under 18s Open Pairs, must be under the required age limit on 30th September in the season they wish to enter the competition. A player must be under the age of 14 years on 30thSeptember in the season they entered their Club Junior Singles competition to qualify for the Junior Champion of Champions competition the following year.

6.      No practice allowed on selected rink on the day the game is to be played.

7.      Competitors entering in the Individual competitions (as listed in Rule 4) and taking part in the first game constitute the original entry. All players must be eligible members of the same club. One additional (and the same) player of the same Club, may, however, be used as a substitute at any time providing they have not already played in that Competition and provided they are eligible competitors. A substitute may play in any position except Skip in a resumed game (game interrupted through illness or any other reason). In the Mixed Triplesand Pairs, one substitute of either gender (and the same) is allowable at any one time. Competitors who have entered a Competition and are a named entrant (the name entered on the draw sheet) cannot afterwards play in another team in the same Competition, irrespective of whether or not they have actually played in their original entry.

8.      In all individual competitions the Challenger (the player whose name appears first on the draw) shall offer their opponent (the player whose name appears second on the draw) the choice of two dates, one weekday evening and one weekend (excluding Bank Holidays unless by mutual agreement). Ties at weekends shall not commence before 10.00am and weekday evenings not before 6.30pm unless by mutual agreement. Other National or International Bowling duties, Nationalgames or County games that have already been arranged will take precedence and the Challenger can be requested to offer another date.Games may be played during the day by mutual agreement.                                                                                                                  

When challenged, being on holiday or playing a Club game is not sufficient reason for demanding an alternative date.

The only exception to this regulation is in the Champion of Champions competition when the two players are from different areas of the County i.e. East and West, with a travelling distance of over 50 miles each way between the two clubs. In the event of this occurring, and at the players involved request, the Competition Secretaries are to be informed and a neutral, equidistant venue will be found.

9.      The competition sheets will include a “challenge by” date to make sure that challengers do not wait until the last week before making contact. Challengers who fail to make contact by the “challenge by”date forfeit the right to challenge and the opponents becomes the challengers, and therefore the game will be played at the Opponentsclub. In the first game on any County Competition players must not be asked to play before the ‘challenge by’ date except by mutual agreement.

10.      An open draw for the Semi-Final stage shall be made when the last four (two from each area) stage has been reached.  All Finals games to be played on a weekend in April, the date to be determined at AGM.

11.     In the event of inclement weather making travelling impossibleon an arranged date, if a game cannot be re-arranged before the “play by” date, then please let the Competition Secretary know as soon as possible.

12.     The results of the game must be sent by Telephone, Text message or Email to the Competition Secretary within 24 hours after the game has finished. The scorecard showing the competition title, named player,date, start time and names of all players clearly and signed by either players or, must be sent by Email or Text imaged to the Competition Secretary within 48 hours of the completion of the game.

13.     Mobile phones must not be used on the green and should be turned off or on silent during play. They should be used with discretion whilst in the vicinity of the green. There must be no flash photography whilst play is in progress.

14.     A game conceded is a game played.

15a.     Dress throughout the rounds will be:       

• Shirts will be white, with collar and sleeves or Club Registered Shirts.

• Trousers will be grey or EIBA Ltd Registered colour trousers/regulation skirts/cropped trousers or EIBA/Bowls Manufacturer Shorts.

• Any coloured flat soled shoes.

• All players to wear the same shirt type, white or club registered. All players to wear the same colour trousers. Teams can wear a mix of trousers, shorts or skirts and a mix of colours if clubs have different colours registered for Men and Women.

15b    Finals will be: 

As Rule 15a except: Trousers will be white, grey or EIBA Ltd Registered colour trousers/regulation skirts/cropped trousers or EIBA/Bowls Manufacturer Shorts.

 

16.     All players shall be expected to pay their own rink fees. 

17.     Competition Entry Fees shall be decided by the Executive Committee each year.

18.     A player who is competing in either the Singles or the Champion of Champions who realises that he/she will be unable to play in the Finals, then he/she must withdraw straight away from the competition.

19.     In the event of a disagreement or problem then the Honorary County Secretary’s decision is final.

20.     Players taking part in any County competition will not be permitted to smoke during the game.
