Washington History Society
Washington History Society will be exhibting at the Fair this coming Saturday 18 May, between 10am and 4pm. It takes place at the Bethany Church, Bede Tower, Burdon Rd, Sunderland SR2 7EA. We will be focusing on two key annivesaries; 60 years since the start of Washington New Town and 50 yeares ago this August since Usworth Colliery closed, the last coal mine in Washington
At 12 noon Ged Parker will be giving a talk on the recently printed book of The Memories of Usworth Miner Jim Tatters, which will be on sale at the Society's stand.
