Footpaths

Acklington Parish Council is committed to ensuring that all footpaths in the parish are safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. The Footpath Restoration Plan focuses on:

  • Keeping paths at least 1 metre wide and clear of overhanging trees, invasive hedging, and overgrown vegetation}
  • Maintaining stiles, gates, and footbridges in good condition
  • Providing clear signage for easy navigation

The Footpath Restoration Working Party is a small but dedicated team of volunteers who help maintain the network of paths around Acklington and Guyzance. By working together, they ensure that everyone can enjoy walking the countryside safely and comfortably.

The Council also collaborates with local landowners to protect footpath boundaries and install marker posts where needed, keeping paths clearly defined and preventing accidental damage.

If you would like to support the work of the Footpath Restoration Working Party or have suggestions for maintaining or improving paths, please contact the Parish Council.

Parish Footpath Survey

The Parish Council has carried out a survey of public footpaths within the parish to record their condition and identify areas that may require maintenance or improvement.
