Community Speed Watch
Our community can be plagued by poor driving through the village, even with the 20 m.p.h. limit that covers the heart of the village and the road that passes between the Primary School and the playing field.
In order to encourage sensible and responsible driving, our Community Speed Watch team - fully Police trained - undertake occasional sessions across the village recording and reporting the speeds of vehicles passing through our streets.
This vital work requires volunteers, all of whom receive the required official training and are supplied with suitable hi-vis waistcoats. Volunteers get to use the official Police-supplied equipment needed to perform this role. Applicants should be 18+ and will be asked to participate in occasional speed-watch sessions as and when they can offer some time.
Sessions can be busy and frantic (particularly on certain weekends!) or quiet and peaceful (offering the opportunity to chat with a few neighbours you might not otherwise encounter). It's a very rewarding way to spend some time with village colleagues, helping to ensure that our roads are that little bit safer.
