The Council’s Local Plan

South Gloucestershire's proposed Housing Development for Acton Turville

On Monday 14 July 2025 representatives from the Badminton Estate gave a presentation to the Parish Council outlining proposals for a housing development on the outskirts of our village.

South Glos Council’s Local Plan, which has been under discussion for some several years now, underwent major changes as a result of new targets having been set by central government; the figures for Acton Turville have doubled from 25 to 50 dwellings.  The presentation by the Badminton Estate was intended to explain how they intend to achieve this higher target.

Their preferred solution is to build on a green field site that extends between Littleton Drew Road and Luckington Road, adjacent to the playing fields and tennis court.

The Parish Council has several concerns, which are set out in the comprehensive article published in Talkback, and if you look at the Parish Council Minutes published on this website, you can read about this in more detail.

Nothing can be done until a formal planning application is submitted (possibly in Spring 2026), at which time Parish Council will be submitting a formal response to that application, and we urge all villagers to do the same as individuals, direct to the Planning Officer.

In the meantime, we will, of course, keep everyone updated on this website, in Talkback and on Facebook.

We value our village and wish to maintain the current living environment for all to enjoy, long into the future.
