Newsletter

June 2023

Welcome to the June 2023 edition of the newsletter. Lots of activity has been going on at Edgar Hall to make a fully functional workshop.

URGENT CALL FOR ACTION

We now need to pick up the pace and your committee is organising a big push to finish the workshop. Your help is needed as much as possible to do this but you are really needed to help on WEDNESDAY 28TH JUNE when the plan is to move everything from the old Shed to Edgar Hall and to set the old Shed up as a clean workshop/studio for craft-type activities.

Edgar Hall update

Your committee is hoping that the workshop at Edgar Hall will be open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. However, to do this we still need some more members to act as workshop supervisors. We are currently able to open for five mornings and a couple of afternoons. Workshops supervisors will be provided with a checklist of what needs to be done, so it’s not a daunting task.

If we can have someone in the workshop all the time, we are more likely to attract new members.

Don’t forget that Edgar Hall and AMS projects are listed on the notice board so please sign up for anything you want to be involved in. The lists will be continuously updated so please check every time you visit the workshop.

Without your help, none of these will get done, so please get involved.

Community Projects Update

The latest cub scout project was the making of these decorative mobile phone holders.

Another a great success led by Mike Loxley and Dave Lackie.

They need more help with projects like these. Contact Mike Loxley if you are interested.

Social Events

The annual BBQ will be held on SATURDAY 29TH JULY at Gordon’s house starting at 12.30pm with food being served from 1.00pm. Partners are welcome and the cost is £12.00 per head. Please let John Sills know if you are coming and pay John Campion by bank transfer, cheque or cash. Sorry but Green Shield stamps are not accepted. Try to car share as parking will be limited. Bring your own drink.

Official Opening and Publicity

The date for the official opening of our new premises has been set for:

SATURDAY 12TH AUGUST 2023

Your help will be needed for getting things ready, setting up, helping on the day and clearing up afterwards. Please block out some time in your diaries.

We now have a new publicity leaflet, which will be ready for collection in early July. TopPrint have done us proud by designing the leaflet and printing it at hugely reduced cost. If you need any printing done, show them some support and put the business their way. Let them know that they were recommended by Alton Men’s Shed. Chris Holland will be drawing up a list of places in the local community where we can put these to spread the word. If you can help with the distribution, contact Chris.

Raising Funds

Don’t forget to spread the word about the word about East Hampshire Community Lottery,: https://www.easthantslottery.co.uk/account/login?returnUrl=%2F . AMS gets a cut from every pound spent.
