Welcome to The Alton Town Twinning Association

ATTA was formed to foster communication and friendship with towns in other countries on behalf of Alton and surrounding villages through culture, recreation, education and commerce.

Alton has been twinned with Montecchio Maggiore in Italy since 1998 and with Pertuis in France since 2006.

All three are long-established market towns with a light industrial base and sit in beautiful countryside close to cities of historical and cultural importance. Montecchio and Pertuis have a tradition of wine making and Alton has a history of brewing.

Each year we visit one of our twin towns and host the other – usually in our own homes. A varied programme of cultural, tourist and social activities is organised for each visit and many firm friendships have been forged.

ATTA encourages and supports other visits and exchanges by clubs and special interest groups.

We are funded mainly by subscriptions and profits on social events. We are entirely independent of local councils but are grateful for grant support for specific projects.
