Welcome to arborgames.co.uk

Arborgames is a group set up by Paul Stevens at Arborfield Village Hall. The hall is located on the Eversley Road at Arborfield Cross, RG2 9PQ. The group was initially set up using a grant from Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Mathew Barber and is run with the support of the village hall Trustees. We now have a wide range of games available to borrow and play, or you can bring along one of your own. We now also have a table tennis set ;-)

The aim of the group is to provide a safe, welcoming and friendly space to play tabletop games. Our opening times are every Saturday between 13.30 and 16.30 and we will be re opening in  September 2025. Games sessions will be supervised by at least one DBS checked Trustee of the hall who will open and close the facility. Games played may include any "Tabletop games" such as traditional ones like Chess, Backgammon or Scrabble, Wargames such as Warhammer, Bolt Action or Battle Tech, or Role Play Games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder or Call of Cthulhu.

Playing board games offers a wide range of benefits, from cognitive and social improvements to stress reduction and enhanced family bonding. They stimulate brain areas responsible for memory and complex thought, promoting decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving. Board games also foster teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills, while also promoting social interaction and reducing feelings of loneliness. The group is keen to encourage the positive side of playing Tabletop games but are aware that there may be issues of inappropriate content, language or behaviour associated with some games and for some users, for example any young persons present. With this in mind all members of the group are asked to sign a membership agreement which can be found HERE.
