New car park application
Atcham Parish Council
A new, revised application for an additional car park (Mytton & Mermaid) is due to be submitted soon.
Representatives of Brunning & Price came along to the Annual Community Meeting on 13 May and shared their draft design with residents and councillors. We have since received the following from them:
"Many thanks for the invitation to the recent meeting and hearing our presentation around further proposals for a new overflow car park on the far side of Atcham bridge. We appreciate this is a beautiful sensitive location and we are very keen to find a mutually beneficial solution to the current parking issues in the village.
"I hope that you found the presentation informative and progressive and I am pleased to now be able to provide you with an update on the progress of the proposed application. As discussed at the meeting, we have tried to address the concerns of all relevant parties by making the following key amendments -
- We have reduced the car park to 62 spaces following a formal transport study (from 93 spaces) and moved it away from the river.
- We propose constructing an earth mound along the river border to the new car park, which, along with substantial and mature evergreen planting, should render the car park virtually invisible from the village.
- We have removed all access to the river from the car park.
- We will use natural materials wherever possible.
"There were a number of questions posed at the meeting which we have also taken into account -
- We have introduced a sensitive low level car park lighting scheme.
- We have discussed the location of the entrance to the car park with highways who advise the entrance where currently proposed is the most appropriate.
- We remain in discussions with highways over the lighting to the pedestrian bridge, with the aim of agreeing a solution in the most sensitive manner possible. We will also urge them to make ongoing repairs to the bridge as requested.
"Our intention is to submit the revised planning application by Friday 12 June. We also propose to display plans and drawings in the pub."
New draft plans and drawings, along with the traffic survey report (as requested) are available on request. Please email the Clerk.
