Barwell is a friendly mixed outdoor bowling club on the outskirts of Hinckley in South-West Leicestershire, and this season, 2026, is our Centenary year!
We will play many special matches this season - the highlight perhaps being a visit to play against the Royal Household at Windsor!
We welcome new bowlers and those who have played before, but if you haven't bowled before Barwell is an excellent place to start, with friendly, helpful members to assist, and coaching sessions tailored to your requirements. PLUS - if you are new to bowling, your first season's membership subscription will be the capitation fees decided by Bowls England (BE) and Bowls Leicestershire (BL) annually.
This enables you to decide if you like the game and the club, and you are able to concentrate on purchasing the clothing and footwear needed. A whole range of bowling is available, which caters for all from those who just want the occasional friendly game, up to the most competitive fixtures available.
We will play almost 100 matches in a season, including a competitive evening Triples League on a Monday evening, and many friendly fixtures. The latter are played on Saturday afternoons and some Sunday afternoons, plus Midweek fixtures which are either on a Wednesday evening or a Thursday afternoon. There are also internal club competitions, and the opportunity to enter County or National competitions as well. Members can play as little or as often as they wish, and there is ample opportunity for socialising both during and after the game.
During the summer season our focus is on bowling, but during the winter there are monthly social events such as coffee mornings, domino evenings, quizzes or skittles to keep our extended bowling family in touch.
