ROAD CLOSURES

Chapel LaneSissinghurst - 10th November 2025

Due to works planned to be undertaken by South East Water, it will be necessary to close part of Chapel Lane, Sissinghurst, from 10th November 2025 with estimated completion by 20th March 2026.

Chapel Lane, Sissinghurst, will be closed in 2 phases from the junction with A262 The Street to the junction with Golford Road. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

  • Phase 1 from 10th November 2025 to 19th December 2025.
  • Phase 2 from 5th January 2026 to 20th March 2026.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chapel Lane, Golford Road, Bakers Cross, The Hill, St Davids Bridge, Waterloo Road, A229 Wilsley Green, A229 Wilsley Pound Roundabout, A262 Sissinghurst Road, A262 The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow water main renewal works to be carried out, works are undertaken by South East Water.

SGN - Temporary Road Closure - B2086 Rolvenden RoadBenenden - 17th November 

Due to works planned to be undertaken by SGN, it will be necessary to close part of B2086 Rolvenden Road, Benenden, from 17th November 2025 with estimated completion by 14th December 2025.

B2086 Rolvenden Road, Benenden, will be closed between Pullington Cottages and Fold Cottage. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative routes for any through traffic are via:

Diversion 1 - B2086 Rolvenden Road, B2086 The Street, New Pond Road, Goddards Green Road, Benenden Road, Tenterden Road, Cranbrook Road, A28 Rolvenden Road, A28 Rolvenden Hill, A28 Tenterden Road, B2086 Regent Street, B2086 Benenden Road, B2086 Rolvenden Road and vice versa.

Diversion 2 - B2086 Rolvenden Road, B2086 Benenden Road, B2086 Regent Street, A28 High Street, A28 Hastings Road, A268 Rye Road, A268 Queen Street, A268 Megrims Hill, A268 Rye Road, A229 Cranbrook Road, A229 Gills Green, A229 Hawkhurst Road, A229 Hartley Road, B2086 Swattenden Lane, B2086 Benenden Road, B2086 Cranbrook Road, B2086 The Street, B2086 Rolvenden Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, works are undertaken by SGN.

Standen Street, Benenden - 8th December 

It will be necessary to close Standen Street, Benenden from 8th December 2025 for up to 2 days.

The road will be closed from Woodcock Lane to Crouch Lane.

The alternative route is via Woodcock Lane, Dingleden Farm Road, Dingleden, Crouch Lane, and vice versa.

It is planned that the road will be closed between 09:30 hrs and 15:30 hrs each day.

This is to enable high voltage cable repairs to be carried out by Openreach.

Golford Road, Golford - 9th December 

It will be necessary to close Golford Road, Golford from 9th December 2025 for up to 9 days.

The road will be closed outside Tollgate Barn.

The alternative route is via Tenterden Road, Cranbrook Road, Benenden Road, Goddards Green Road, Golford Road, and vice versa.

This is to enable water pipe repairs to be carried out by South East Water.

London Lane, Cranbrook - 10th December 

It will be necessary to close London Lane, Cranbrook from 10th December 2025 for up to 1 day.

The whole length of the road will be closed, but access will be maintained for residents when it is safe to do so and .

The alternative route is via Frittenden Road, Common Road, A229 The Common, and vice versa.

It is planned that the road will be closed between 07:00 hrs and 19:00 hrs.

This is to enable urgent carriageway patching to be carried out by Kent County Council

Temporary Road Closure & Prohibition of Parking - Walkhurst RoadBenenden - 5th January

Due to works planned to be undertaken by SGN, it will be necessary to close part of Walkhurst Road, Benenden, from 5th January 2026 with estimated completion by 27th February 2026.

Walkhurst Road, Benenden, will be closed from the junction with B2086 The Street to the junction with Goddards Green Road. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Parking on Walkhurst Road will be prohibited as per signage on site. 

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Goddards Green Road, New Pond Road, B2086 The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, works are undertaken by SGN.

Slip Mill LaneHawkhurst - 5th January

Due to works planned to be undertaken by South East Water, it will be necessary to close part of Slip Mill Lane, Hawkhurst, from 5th January 2026 with estimated completion by 7th January 2026.

Slip Mill Lane, Hawkhurst, will be closed in the vicinity of Lightfoot Cottage. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Slip Mill Lane, A268 High Street, A229 Cranbrook Road, Wellington Road, Slip Mill Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to allow water pipe works to be carried out, works are undertaken by South East Water.
