Spring is with us and summer on the horizon. Couple this with the Green having had its first, second and third cut of the year, and things would suggest a new season is about to commence. However, in these Covid times it is not always that simple as can be seen from the following extract.

BOWLS ENGLAND LOOKS FORWARD TO START OF 2021 OUTDOOR SEASON

The Prime Minister’s announcement confirmed that outdoor affiliated bowls clubs will be able to open from 29 March.

Chief Executive, Jon Cockcroft, said: “With the roadmap laid out by the Prime Minister, we are excited about our sport’s prospects for the coming season. With sensible interventions in place, bowls is a sport that can be enjoyed authentically and safely within the government guidelines and it will be a huge boost for the wellbeing of the bowls community to be playing the sport they love and connecting back in with their local communities. We will be working in partnership with all stakeholders, notably affiliated clubs, to navigate through any challenges and, whilst mindful to retain a level of caution, are very excited about the outdoor bowls season beginning soon.”

As soon as is permissible the Committee will meet to plan for the months ahead. It is hoped the Green will be ready for ‘roll ups’ to start again in April. All past, present and future members should take advantage of the next few weeks to physically prepare themselves for a new season. It will be fantastic to see everyone again.

Further details of the start of the new season will be posted on the Club’s website www.bradenhambowlsclub.co.uk Bradenham Community page on Facebook and the Mardle.
