Parishioners will no doubt be aware that the first moves are being made in relation to a proposal for massive development South of Sittingbourne, including 11,250 houses.

The current situation is that Quinn developers have submitted an application to Swale Borough Council, for an ‘Environmental Impact Assessment Screening opinion’.    Because there will have to be an Environmental Impact Assessment carried out for a proposed development of this scale, the developers are setting out to SBC some basics of the proposal and asking for their opinion as to what should be included in the assessment document.

This is the first stage in a very long process - we have heard that Swale councillors, expect there to be no actual planning application submitted much before 2019.

However, Bredgar Parish Council will keep fully abreast of developments and will be fully active in supporting the views of Bredgar parishioners.

Meanwhile, please do make your feelings known on the SBC website (planning reference 17/506492/ENVSCR), or by writing to MP Gordon Henderson. The SBC website is still open for comments (possibly until the 10th January).
