Bredgar Parish Council have obtained £1,500 of funding from the Kent County Council Combined Member Grants Scheme for replacement of fencing in the recreation ground. Our Councillor Andrew Bowles had £18,000 of funding available and there were eighteen worthy causes bidding. Selection was by electronic voting after each requestor had three minutes to present their project.

The funding obtained will contribute towards the cost of repair or replacement of the chestnut paling fence on the northern boundary and the wooden fencing at the entrance gate. The work is expected to be completed by the summer.

This continues maintenance works by the Parish Council to tidy up the boundaries of the recreation ground. Last year the hedge alongside Wrens Road was trimmed and the thicket behind the cricket pavilion removed. This exposed some large concrete slabs, which were dug up and buried again much deeper. The ground was then levelled and reseeded with grass.
