Over the last few winters a couple of the Poplar trees in the field to the northern edge of the Recreation Ground have blown down and the Parish Council has been concerned that more might follow. We asked the farmer to consider pollarding (shortening) the trees to eliminate the danger. His contractors attempted to do that work on Sunday 22nd September but they found that the trees are in very poor condition and they could not complete the work.

The Parish Council and farmer have discussed what action needs to be taken and agreed that the old trees should be grubbed up and a new hedgerow planted. The farmer's contractors will return shortly to remove all the trees. During this work the chestnut paling fence will have to be removed. The Parish Council will arrange for the fence to be replaced as soon as possible after the trees are removed.
