Club Competitions FINALS

BLH Club Finals 2026 BLH Club Finals 2026

Hi all, Brimfield and Little Hereford Bowls Club held the Finals of their Internal Competitions on the weekend of the 5th & 6th September, the weather was very kind to us, warm and dry conditions made for some brilliant matches.

We started off in the morning session with the following,

Cecil O' Boyle, A very tight Trips of 8 ends with the Winners being,

Steve Stewart, Hayley Bettinson, Pete Bloomer

Runners up, Brian Zelin, Natasha Griffiths, Howard Turberfield.

 

Barnett Bowl, An 11 end Pairs Final with the Winners Being,

Bob Hughes & Sue Kemp,

Runners up, Ali Bloomer & Brian Draper.

 

Harry Millichamp, 4 Wood Pair, with the Winners being,

Jennie Cole & Ash Edwards,

Runners up, Tegan Griffiths & Dave Ball.

 

Afternoon session started with the Roebuck Cup 21 Ends 2 Wood Singles, Between

Jennie Cole v Kevin Warburton, with Jennie coming home the Winner.

 

Arthur Edwards, A 4 Woods first to 21 match between two extremely good Bowlers,

Sue Kemp v Ash Edwards, with Ash just getting over the Winning line.

 

And to Finish the day off we had the Crown Pairs  Between,

Dave Evans & Brian Draper v Brian Zelin & Pete Bloomer, 

With Brian Zelin & Pete Bloomer just edging the match.

 

The second day on Sunday started with the Albert Duvall, a 2 Wood Drawn Pairs over 15 ends, Between, 

Howard Turberfield & Kevin Warburton v Jennie Cole & Derick Pickering, a very close match with the team of, 

Howard Turberfield & Kevin Warburton just getting over the line first.

 

John Collett, A 3 wood Drawn Trips between, 

Hayley Bettinson, Steve Stewart, Jane Howsam v Pauline Suffield, Dave Evans, Susan Northwood, This match was the closest of all the Finals, with it going down to the last wood, with the team of, 

Hayley Bettinson, Steve Stewart, Jane Howsam just edging it.

 

The Afternoon session started with the Mens & Ladies Club Singles,

Millenium Plate Novice Singles Between Hayley Bettinson v Pauline Preece, and after years of entering this Comp the Winner and getting the loudest cheer of the day was Pauline Preece, 

 

Crown Singles, Between Dave Evans v Michael Morris, with Dave just edging it

 

Ladies match between, Sue Kemp v Shirley Evans, with Sue Kemp becoming Ladies Singles Champion.

Mens match between, Pete Bloomer v Dave Ball, with Pete Bloomer becoming Mens Singles Champion.

 

Both Sue and Pete will represent Brimfield in the Champion of Champions, and I'm sure all the Club members will wish them both the best of luck when they play.

 

I would like to thank Philip & Richard and all their helpers for providing a fantastic Green, not only for the Finals Weekend but throughout the season.

 

After being Competition Secretary for the last 2 Years I have decided to step down from the this Role, I would like to thank all Members for their continuing support and to let you all know how much I have enjoyed it, 

We are now looking for a new Competition Secretary, so if someone would like a very rewarding position, please put your name forward on the form in the Snug.
