A259 Brenzett to Rye – overnight closures for resurfacing update from National Highways

We recently started resurfacing the A259 between Brenzett and Rye. Having paused this work during the main holiday peak, we’ll soon be returning to finish this essential work.

We’re also using the closures to take the opportunity to replace and improve the road signs along the road.

We’ll continue to work in stages, starting on the evening of Monday 9 October.

To minimise disruption, we’ll work on weeknights between the hours of 8pm and 6am only, when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the road open as usual.

Closure information

Monday 9 & Tuesday 10 October: the A259 Brenzett Roundabout will be fully closed from 8pm to 6am each night.

During this closure, a diversion will be in place going in both directions via A2070, M20, A261, A259, B2075, Lydd Road and Camber Road. Non-motorway traffic should use the A20 instead of the M20.

Thursday 12 to Monday 16 October: the A259 will be closed at the junction with Camber Road, weeknights from 8pm to 6am.

Tuesday 17 to Wednesday 25 October: the A259 will be closed between Camber Road heading west to where it passes over the River Rother, weeknights from 8pm to 6am.

During these closures, a diversion will be in place going in both directions via A2070, A292, A28, A262, A229 and A268.

Please note that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Access for businesses and residents

For businesses and residents within the closure area, access will be maintained to your properties. Please approach the closure point for an escort. This is for access only.
