Parish Paths

Enhancing Rights of Way Networks

This initiative is designed to involve local communities in managing the Rights of Way network, ensuring that paths are safe, accessible, and well-maintained.  Kier and NNC are reaching out as they look to re energise our Parish Path Warden Scheme.

What is the Scheme?

The main goal of the scheme is to involve local councils and their communities in monitoring and reporting the condition of public paths. By participating, you can help ensure that routes are not obstructed, are clearly defined, and are properly maintained, which will promote safe and enjoyable walking for everyone.

What’s Involved?

As a Parish Path Warden (PPW), your role will be to regularly check local paths for any issues such as overgrowth, obstructions, or wear and tear. You don’t need to be an expert—just someone with a keen eye for detail who can assess different needs. A path may be clear for some users, but challenging for others, and it’s important to consider accessibility for all.

To participate, all you need to do is:

  1. Take a photo of any issues (using your phone or camera).
  2. Send the information to your clerk - clerk@bulwickparishcouncil.gov.uk

The clerk will then complete the reporting process for defects and track their progress. Additionally, you will receive quarterly newsletters showcasing the work that the scheme is enabling in communities like yours (clerk will display these on this page)

Why should Bulwick resident take part in this?

  • Be an active part of maintaining and promoting your local path network.
  • Ensure paths are accessible and safe for all users.
  • Celebrate the great work being done in your community through regular updates.
  • Valuable initiative to improve and protect our local paths
