New changes to the number 7 Tiger Fleet - Reading commencing 6th January 2020

Form the 6th January the number 7 service to Reading will be subject to a revised timetable. The revised changes had to be made due to a combination of passenger numbers and congestion.

Reading Buses could have totally withdrawn the service, but decided to keep the service operating with a revised timetable.

Reading Buses would need to more than double the passenger numbers to make the route sustainable. As a result there was very little option other than to make the planned changes in the absence of any other means of funding the service.

There are several areas of congestion, which to an extent are evident in the variance in peak and off peak running times, particularly in the Swallowfield and Three Mile Cross area, and between term time and vacations.

If we want to restore this service back to its original timetable then we will need to find ways to give this service priority measures to beat traffic congestion and encourage more people to use the service.
