Bees and other insects have massively declined over the past 50 years. They need a huge amount of energy to fly from their home to fields where they collect nectar and pollinate plants in the process. They frequently fly several miles, and need regular fuel stops.

OUR RESPONSE

We need to introduce more bee-friendly plants at regular intervals around the area. This is why we would like you to make a square meter of wildflowers so we can create pollinator refuelling stations across the parish. BEE SQUARED is being driven by parish councils around the country and Cannock Wood Parish Council will provide wildflower seed in the spring so that each participating household can be encouraged to plant 1 square metre of wildflower mix in their garden or in pots.

If you would like to be part of this project and live in Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw, please provide your name, address and postcode so we can deliver a small packet of selected wildflower seeds to you in the spring.
