Welcome to City of Wells Bowling Club

City of Wells Bowls Club was founded in 1914, moved to its present green in 1915 and is still going strong. We currently have 60 members.  Our playing season runs from mid April to mid September, during which time we enjoy a comprehensive programme of matches. The ladies play in a local league known as "The Wild League", the men have one team in both the Somerset County League and the Mid-Somerset League, a mid week league. In addition we play friendly games against local clubs and entertain touring club sides as often as possible. Many players enter County and National competitions and we also have club competitions. On Monday  evenings we have club sessions where games are arranged and it is a prime time to introduce players new to the game to something more than just a roll-up.  It's also an opportunity to try things out new things when it doesn't matter. Our Level 2 coach is also available then, or any other time by arrangement.  Apres Bowls is an important part of our social life.  During the winter 'off' season the club has Card playing sessions on Monday afternoons; occasional Quiz and Bingo nights; together with a coffee morning on the first Monday of each month.

The club is always looking for new members of all ages and standards, including beginners.  Club nights are every Monday evening from 6pm.  Coaching is available and can be arranged to suit.

Why not come along and have a go?  Equipment will be provided, please wear flat shoes.  We look forward to meeting you!

The Club was awarded Community Amateur Sports Club status effective from 01/03/09.  CASC No05327
