Road Surfaces

The damaged road surface below the bridge on Bridge Road does not meet the criteria for road surface repairs. The parish council will continue to review and they ask residents to support by sending photos to: Fix My Street

Cosgrove- Parking notice - June 2026

Our neighbourhood police team kindly remind all residents and visitors of the importance of parking safely and responsibly within our community.
Recently, they have observed an increase in vehicles being parked on junctions and pavements. While this may seem convenient at times, it creates several safety concerns, including:

·  Reduced visibility at junctions, making it difficult for drivers and pedestrians to safely navigate the area.

·  Obstruction of pavements, which can force pedestrians, including parents with prams, wheelchair users, and visually impaired individuals into the road.

·  Potential delays for emergency services, who require clear access at all times.

To help keep our neighbourhood safe and accessible for everyone, we kindly ask that all drivers ensure vehicles are parked legally, responsibly, and without causing obstruction.
Please avoid parking:

·  Within 10 metres of a junction

·  On pavements or dropped kerbs

·  In a manner that restricts access for pedestrians or other road users

Speed Indication Devices (SID)

Three speed indication devices located in the village remind drivers to drive carefully and within the speed limit. Two of the devices are solar powered. Reports show that most drivers respect the village and driving carefully.

• 99.5% of traffic driving in the village is within the 30mph speed limit - most drivers are considerate and law abiding.
• The 0.5% of drivers exceeding the limit have worryingly reached speeds between 31mph to over 60mph.  

Records of excessive speed will be shared with the police showing the date and time to encourage offenders to be more considerate. The permanent SIDs on Stratford Road and Yardley Road are programmed to advise 20mph for the morning and afternoon school runs.  

20mph Requests

We would love to see speeds reduced to 20mph through the village.

WNC's Highways put formal requests before a Speed Limit Review Panel. The panel state that:

• the path of the road should naturally encourage low speed and be self-enforcing
• simply reducing the speed limit will not change their behaviour.
• introducing a lower speed limit may provide a false sense of security to residents, especially where drivers currently drive too fast.

Please take responsibility and be considerate when driving through the village.

Pavements & Paths

Please remember to:

• Keep pavements and paths clear to reduce the risk of pedestrians having to walk in the road.
• Cut back branches - tidy and trim obstructions to prevent foliage from obscuring pavements. 

Tee Junction Yardley Road/Castlethorpe Rd

Cosgrove Parish Council's perseverance paid off with WNC Highways installing improved signage at the junction to reduce road traffic accidents. They repainted the white lines and installed yellow bordered 'Give Way' signs.

Safety Improvements - report incidents in and around the parish to the Parish Council clerk use Contact or  tell your Parish Councillor.

Litter and Dog Poo

Use the dog poo bins to:

• Keep our village free from dog mess and looking its best!
• Show respect for walkers, runners and cyclists.

You will find:

• Red dog bins in the village
• Green dog bins on the canal towpath near the bridge and on the towpath below the Locks. 

If the bins are full or you are not near one, take it home!
