Cosgrove Parish Council Need your Skills
Represent your local community in this voluntary role to make a positive difference to the community!
- Influence decisions on local issues – planning applications, local amenities, ensuring the community’s views are heard.
- Be part of local projects – decide when and which projects funding should support to improve quality of life for villagers.
- Develop new or use your current skills – get practical experience in leadership, communication, finance, decision making, problem solving and so much more.
- Provide services to meet needs – link with other councillors, community groups, police, health to address concerns and build this community and its relationships through networking and representing our residents.
- Contribute to fund raising – raise money through the precept, apply for grants and funding to improve and create opportunities for the community.
Watch your community develop because of your contribution!
Commitment –
- 10 meetings per year - 7.30pm, the first Wednesday of the month (except January and August).
- Meetings last 2-3 hours.
- Sub-committees for specific issues
- Representing the council on an external body or community activities
Length of Service – the post lasts for 4 years, with the option to stand for re-election.
Eligibility – you must:
- Be a British subject, or citizen of the Commonwealth
- Be over 18
- Be a resident within the council parish area or within 3 miles for a minimum of 12 months as owner or tenant of any land or premises
- Have had your principal or only place of work in the council area or within 3 miles of it for the whole period, over the last 12 months
- A local government elector for the council area for which you want to stand
- Agree to sign up to the Code of Conduct.

Volunteering Opportunities
AGE UK Northamptonshire - Community Responder Volunteer
Community Responder Volunteers make a difference by bringing a friendly face to provide company, reassurance and low-level support to older people in their homes for up to two hours. You could provide reassurance, pack an overnight bag, help someone after a fall, contact a family member or friend, collect a prescription, complete a welfare check, deliver mobility equipment. To join you must be:
- Aged 18 or over
- Confident, caring and empathetic with older people
- Able to stay calm and offer reassurance
- Living within Northamptonshire
- Willing to complete a DBS check and be willing to undertake relevant training.

Northamptonshire Carers
Volunteers needed to help support carers and people living with long term health conditions countywide, particularly in hard to reach communities, rural locations, global ethnic majority communities, LGBQT and others. Volunteers and staff work collaboratively to meet the needs of those being support. Help to develop new and exciting bespoke projects too!

Community transport supports people to attend medical related appointments and other venues which contribute to their well-being and independence and help combat loneliness and isolation. Volunteers are being actively sort to assist with the waiting list and reduce the numbers of elderly and vulnerable struggling in OUR community.
Car owning volunteers:
- mileage is reimbursed
- flexible hours, with work organised around availability
- DBS checked
