About Parish Council

Parish councils are statutory bodies and form the first tier of local government in England. They play a vital role in representing the interests of the local community and improving the quality of life in the parish.

Governance & Elections

Members of Earl's Croome Parish Council are elected by the community for a term of four years. The council operates under strict statutory powers and duties to ensure transparency, accountability, and fair representation for all residents.

Funding & The Precept

Unlike larger principal authorities, parish councils do not receive funding directly from central government. Instead, they are funded principally by an annual precept:

How it works: Each year, the Parish Council calculates its estimated income and expenditure for the upcoming financial year.

Collection: The net amount required (the precept) is added to the local Council Tax. This is collected on our behalf by the district council (Malvern Hills District Council) and paid to the parish in two six-monthly instalments.

Alternative Funding: To stretch our budget further, the Parish Council can also apply for external funding, such as grants and specific funding awards, to support local community projects.
