Community Garden

Ellerton & Aughton Community Village Hall Community Garden

A few volunteers gathered in August to discuss the future of the outdoor area behind the village hall. Here is the preliminary plan.:

The fruit and other trees are to be pruned, and a fence erected at  the very end of the garden. The rubbish is to be cleared, and roundels created around the base of the fruit trees, into which spring bulbs will be planted. The youth club is going to fund the bulbs and hopefully the children will be able to help with the planting.

The grassed area is looking great at the moment, and thanks go to Kevin Treacher, who works hard to keep it nice for us all. The toddler group and the youth club truly appreciate being able to play on the grass.

Moving forward, it is hoped that there can be some raised beds, compost bins and a seating area.

The area at the front of the hall is to be tidied, and brought to its former glory.

If anyone would like to be involved, please get in touch.

Lastly, if anyone can spare any fence posts, pallets, fencing wire or non- plastic planters, please get in touch.

Update, October 2024.

The rear trees have been pruned, and the roundels under the fruit trees re-established. The children from toddlers and youth club will be planting some spring flowering bulbs in the roundels.
