Ellington and Linton Colliery are two adjoining villages close to the coast of Northumberland, both with a strong historic association to coal mining.  Taken together they have a population of around 2,700.  Local amenities include primary schools, village shops, village halls, play parks, allotments, a caravan park, a pub and the 'Tute.  The Parish is situated roughly 4 miles north of the town of Ashington, and is a close neighbour to the villages of Cresswell, Lynemouth, Longhirst, Ulgham, Duridge Bay and Widdrington.

The Parish Council meets on the third Thursday of most months, alternating between Ellington and Linton Village Halls.
