Objective.

To establish a process that provides the opportunity for playing members to compete in friendly and enjoyable competition, within established timescales, and determine a winner for each competition.

Scope.

These rules use as a guide, the Appendix A of the Law of the Sport of Bowls and shall cover all internal competition games played at Emsworth Bowling Club.

Responsibility.

The Competition Secretary shall be responsible for all matters concerning club competitions in liaison with the Club Captain.

He/she shall ensure that all playing members have the opportunity to enter competitions, arrange for the draw to take place by the end of April, and post the draw on the notice boards in the first week of May.

He/she shall ensure that the draw-sheets are kept up to date following the result of each game.

It is the responsibility of competitors to play their game within the time defined by the competition draw-sheet.

If, due to some unforeseen difficulty a game cannot be played by the published “play by” date the players must inform the Competition Secretary at least one week before the “play by” date and ensure that the game is played within one week after the “play by” date. If players are unable to meet this timescale they shall withdraw from that competition.

If competitors become aware that they cannot play in any competition round, including semi finals and finals, played on fixed dates in the Club Yearbook they shall withdraw from that competition immediately.

Weekend triples shall be played on those dates defined on the club draw-sheet.

The first named person(s) on the draw, defined as the challenger, is responsible for arranging the game with their opponents within the stated timescales shown on the draw-sheet, and writing the fixture in the diary (kept on the front desk) as early as possible.

The Challenger shall also arrange for a Marker to officiate at singles games.

Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons must be avoided, together with P&D league and club friendly matches.
