About the Friends

St Mary’s is one of three medieval parish churches in Sandwich and perhaps its most architecturally complex. Sandwich St Mary’s Community Trust works to protect the fabric of the church, support the arts, and strengthen community life within its walls. The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), a registered charity supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Church Commissioners, is responsible for the structural integrity of the building. We work in partnership with the CCT – combining national conservation expertise with local volunteer energy.

Opportunities to Serve

Friends also give time and skills - welcoming visitors, assisting at events, maintaining the garden, or helping with publicity and research. Whether you have an hour a month or special expertise to share, your contribution makes a difference.
