St Mary’s, an Anglo-Norman church, now serves as an arts centre and as a landmark of Sandwich's heritage.
Today, thanks to the Friends of Sandwich St Mary’s Community Trust (SSMCT) and the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), this Grade I listed church is alive once more as a vibrant arts and community venue. Together with the CCT, we work to conserve, restore, and animate the building through concerts, theatre, exhibitions, and community gatherings. We are also a registered charity number 1064576.
Sandwich St Mary’s Community Trust is an independent local charity working to improve and develop St Mary’s Arts Centre for the benefit of the community. The historic building is cared for and operated by the CCT, which receives the venue's hire income. The Community Trust raises charitable funds for improvements and development, supported by the Friends of St Mary’s through membership, donations, volunteering and fundraising. Neither the Trust nor the Friends receives income from the CCT’s commercial operation of the venue.
Visit, take part, and become a Friend to help keep St Mary’s open and inspiring for generations to come.
