About Council
Harbottle Parish Council represents the communities of Harbottle, Holystone, and Sharperton in Northumberland. Made up of five elected councillors, the council meets roughly every six weeks—traditionally at the Star Inn—to discuss local matters and make decisions that affect the area.
The council’s role is to support and improve the quality of life for residents, working across a range of community, environmental, and planning responsibilities. It also acts as a local voice, helping to ensure that the needs and views of residents are heard by wider authorities such as Northumberland County Council.
What the Council Does
Planning and Local Development
The council reviews and comments on planning applications, helping to shape how the local area develops in a way that reflects community needs and character.
Community Spaces and Facilities
It helps look after and support local amenities such as seating, lighting, playground areas, bus shelters, litter bins, and other shared public spaces.
Representing the Community
Harbottle Parish Council speaks on behalf of residents on issues affecting everyday life, including roads, services, and infrastructure, ensuring local concerns are communicated to higher levels of government.
