Sad news!

Sadly another volunteer referee hangs up his whistle after continued sarcasm and grief from opposition parents.

The build up to his frustration had been the shouting by parents behind the RESPECT line at him and decisions he made during what was a very competitive game, slow hands claps and sarcastic comments such as “Ooo is that offside as well?” and the classic “REFEREE!!” or “REALLY!!” etc. this was compounded by the manger of the opposition who seemed to shout from kick off until the final whistle who also questioned his decisions as well as 2 or 3 players (U11) who seemed to feel it necessary to voice their feelings.

Sadly, due to the level of verbal abuse suffered by this young man by adults who should know better he has decided that he no longer wishes to referee any matches moving forwards. He was, until today, one of our most assertive and confident volunteers, more importantly the game loses another young volunteer.
