Litter Picking - Advice from Litter Free Durham

With the hot weather warning in place across the UK this week, we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to prioritise their health and safety while out litter picking or at any events you have planned this week.

Please take extra care:

. Stay well hydrated and drink plenty of water

. Wear suitable clothing, including sun hats and sunscreen

. Avoid the hottest parts of the days where possible (typically midday to mid-afternoon)

. Take regular breaks in shady area

. Only do what you are comfortable with.

There is absolutely no expectation to carry out litter picking during periods of extreme heat, your wellbeing always comes first.
