Fundraising Auction

The club will be holding a fundraising auction on Saturday 14th November. Mandie is organising the auction and would be grateful for all the support you can offer. Please read her message below:

Please find attached a copy of the auction poster.

I would be really grateful if you could copy it and share it via WhatsApp, email, Messenger, Instagram, or whichever way you contact anyone you think may be interested in supporting our auction night.

At the moment, only a very small handful of members have made donations or sourced promises for the evening. I appreciate the auction isn't until November, but it takes a lot of organising, and I need time to catalogue all the lots before the night.

Anything that can be bid on is welcome – whether it is a big promise or something small. We want to have something to suit everyone's pockets.

Some ideas for prizes include:

• Anything new – household items, edible goods, electrical items, scented products etc.

• Shop or restaurant vouchers. (Please bear in mind that a good few shops/restaurants in town have already been contacted, but there are still plenty that haven't.)

• A personal service, such as:

  • A 2-hour gardening session

  • Cleaning

  • Preparing meals/cooking

  • Washing and ironing

  • Clothing alterations/sewing

  • Bowls 1:1 coaching
    Car wash/valet

These personal services cost nothing to donate but could be fantastic prizes, particularly for people who may struggle with some of these chores. Please ask me if you have an idea

It is really important that you contact me personally with your promises/donations, as I need to catalogue everything before the auction. If I haven't been contacted directly, your lot may not be included.

Nearer the time, I will also need to know who will be attending. I am really hoping the evening will be well supported by our members, fellow bowlers, friends and family. If it isn't well supported, the evening may not be able to go ahead – it really does depend on all of you.

We will all benefit from this as a club, so please, please help where you can.

All the lots will be emailed far and wide before the evening for anyone who cannot attend, as long as they live locally or can arrange for someone to collect their winning lot(s). Payment will be made directly to the club by bank transfer, with details to follow. These bids will then be noted and bidding will start on those lots on the night. Cash or card payments on the evening. A list of lots will also be available on the evening so you are aware of what's coming up.

Sorry this is such a long email, but it is important that everyone understands how much your help and support will make a difference to the success of the evening.

I will be your auctioneer and intend to make the evening as much fun as possible – and squeeze every last penny out of you!

There will also be nibbles, a well-stocked bar and a raffle on the evening.
