High & Low Worsall PC have investigated the possibility of reducing the speed limit on Village Road to 20mph. This was due to the concerns from villagers that more delivery vans are now coming into the village, especially since the COVID Pandemic. Village Road and the Village Green are used by different groups within the village - mums and dads with pushchairs, grandparents with pushchairs and young children, dog walkers, children of all ages using the football area and sometimes riders on horseback, which speedy drivers may be unaware of.

Enquiries were made to the Highways Agency and the PC was told that as there is no main road running through the village, also as there had been no incidents of anyone being injured by a vehicle, there were insufficient grounds for a 20mph restriction.

A second enquiry was made when we learned that a similar village in the area was being supported in their request for a reduced speed limit. Additional reasons given for a 20mph limit in Low Worsall not being appropriate included the presence of a footway on Village Road.

Yours sincerely, for and on behalf of High & Low Worsall Parish Concil.
