An update regarding MacDonald's Roundabout from Highways:

Hi all,

With regards to the recent discussions on the above subject, please could I ask you to share the below note on the scheme with your local parishes, and feel free to use by way of update on any social media you may be aware of which were used by members of the public to raise concerns initially.

A505 / A1301 Roundabout Active Travel Scheme Changes -

Cambridgeshire County Council would like to make you aware of changes to the layout at the A505 / A1301 roundabout.

It has been highlighted that traffic capacity at the roundabout, specifically for traffic approaching the A505 from Sawston direction, has been negatively impacted by recent layout changes, as the width has been reduced to a single lane. This has led to queueing traffic and frustration for road users. We have listened to representations from elected members and roads users regarding these well intentioned changes to promote Active Travel, and the narrowing we had introduced, which shortens the crossing distance for NMU’s on this arm of the roundabout will now be removed. This means that width wise the layout returns to what was there previously, likewise the available capacity on this approach to the roundabout.

It is anticipated that the work will be carried out by our contractor overnight week commencing 11th April. At the same time we will also be making some adjustments to roadmarkings and installing reboundable reflective wands. This work will be carried out under 4 way traffic lights. The lining work is weather dependent.
