LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
Local councillors represent the interests of their communities and the well-being of the residents in their town or parish, safeguarding local services and assets which are important to them.
Reductions in government funding at national and local level is placing at risk those services and facilities such as open spaces, sports facilities and libraries. The increasing financial pressure on Shropshire Council means they are less able to provide services that are important to you. One of the ways in which you can make a difference helping to shape the future of your local community and protect these services is by becoming a member of your local council.
If you are 18 or over, a citizen of the United Kingdom, The European Community or the Commonwealth, you are an elector in, work in, live in or live within three miles of the parish of Hordley you are eligible to stand for election to your Parish Council.
(subject to any ‘disqualification’ criteria)
