Ilminster and District Lions Club Home

Welcome to Ilminster and District Lions Club new website, we hope that you will find it of interest.  We are in the process of building it so please bare with us!

As Lions, we hold ourselves to the absolute highest standards in everything we do.  Our members are dedicated to serving others.  We champion kindness in our communities and actively work to improve the lives of all people.

As part of Lions International, we are a global entity details of which may be found by clicking here.  We also serve individuals and organisations locally by donating, fundraising and supporting.

I am extremely proud of the area which we live in (and I grew up in) and to become President of the Ilminster and District Lions is amazing.  Over the years I have been involved with many local organisations, including carnival clubs, Brownies and Rainbows.  We can all too often look out over the rolling hills and think that all is fine, but there are always those in need through no fault of their own, I hope that I may help in some way.

As President of the Ilminster and District Lions Club I am entitled to propose charities to support during the year.  During 2024 we supported: Yeovil Free Wheelers Blood Bikes; the South West Ambulance Service Trust; and The Beacon Centre @Musgrove Hospital.  In 2025 we will support the Children’s Hospice South West; Macmillan Cancer Support; and various other charities yet to be agreed.

In order to support these causes we have to fundraise.  Our membership chose how this is done.  Events, therefore, often reflects their interests - dog shows, fashion shows and garden parties, for example.  Raffles feature highly!

We could not achieve our objectives without the generosity and support of the local community and businesses.  We are sincerely thankful to those who give so generously and ask that you continue to do so.

Fundraising also requires hands on deck, we are always looking for new members not only to lighten the load, but to bring fresh ideas to the table.  We have regular social events (which usually involve eating), and meet to discuss business once a month at The Shrubbery Hotel, Ilminster.

Do let us know what you think of our website, we would love to hear from you.  You could also follow us on Facebook.
