The Leatherhead Community Orchestra welcomed composer Ferdinando D’Urso for the UK premier of his composition Meditazione su un fiore di zagara (Meditation on an orange tree blossom), performed by the orchestra in Leatherhead in July 2026.

D’Urso describes the piece as 'about beauty', which 'increases every time we are in its presence and makes us long to return to it’.

The composer studied at the University of Bologna and in Conservatories in Catania and Milan. He has arranged arias and composed chamber pieces that have been performed in Italy.
