Planning

Monksilver Parish Council is a statutory consultee on planning applications within the parish. This means the Council is consulted by the Local Planning Authority and may submit comments on applications affecting the local area.

Final decisions on planning applications are made by the relevant planning authority, not the Parish Council.

Viewing and Commenting on Planning Applications

Residents can view current and past planning applications and submit comments directly through the Somerset Council planning portal:

You can:

  • Search for applications by address or reference number
  • View submitted documents and plans
  • Submit comments directly to the planning authority

Role of the Parish Council

Monksilver Parish Council will:

  • Review planning applications affecting the parish
  • Consider local impact such as traffic, drainage, environment, heritage, and amenities
  • Submit formal comments to the Local Planning Authority
  • Represent the views of the local community where appropriate

The Parish Council does not make planning decisions.
