Friday 22nd September was a very important day. Not only did the Much Wenlock A team players secure their future in Division 2 of the Mid-Shropshire Bowling League with a fine win over rivals Bridgnorth A but also the club made progress in two other key areas.

Club Secretary Sue Mawditt together with Vice Chairman Mervyn Jarman met with William Brookes School Business Manager, Peter Neale, firstly to accept a defibrillator donated by the school to the club and secondly to discuss potential future collaboration with the aim of introducing more young people to the great sport of crown green bowling.

Mervyn is leading the initiative to involve more youngsters and this meeting was good start to get the ball rolling.

The defibrillator is a key piece of equipment which we hope will never have to be used but is on hand to help all members and visitors if necessary. It can make the difference between life and death for patients whose heart has stopped beating. You don't have to be medically trained to use it as once opened the machine tells users exactly what to do, step by step.

Our thanks go to Sue and Mervyn for moving these things forward and our photograph, which was taken by Sue, shows Peter Neale handing the defibrillator to Mervyn.
