Bolton Arms Quiz Team donates £1750 to Prostate Cancer UK
North Hampshire Prostate Cancer Support Group
At the ‘Bolton Arms’ in Old Basing, the quiz team regularly raises money for charity. A team member appreciated the fantastic support given to her parents by Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) when her Dad was diagnosed. PCUK was therefore chosen to benefit from funds raised by the pub at its quiz nights.
During the evening of 12 February, the landlord, Duncan Kerr, handed a cheque for £1750 to Allan Roper. Allan is not only a member the NHPCSG and currently our Acting Secretary, but is also a volunteer speaker for PCUK giving talks in the workplace about the disease.
Allan spoke about the work of PCUK, particularly about its programme of innovative research. He emphasised the importance of donations in allowing the charity to continue its good work.
After the cheque presentation, Ken Woolgar talked briefly about the work of NHPCSG, emphasising the affiliation with PCUK and the ‘open to all’ meetings. Ken mentioned the thriving exercise group and social programme.
PCUK information leaflets were distributed along with some PCUK merchandise to say a big thank you to the team members.
The picture shows Allan accepting the cheque on PCUK’s behalf from Duncan Kerr.
