A Warm Welcome from Staff at Sainsbury’s Depot on 14 November 2018

Sainsbury’s is a major employer in Basingstoke. NHPCSG was invited to participate in its regular November health and well-being week. So, again, it was a fairly early start for Alan Instone and Ken Woolgar to make sure that our exhibition boards were set up and PCUK leaflets arranged so that we could catch the first change of shift-working drivers within the Sainsburys Depot.

Luckily our stand was strategically placed in the entrance to the canteen where most employees changing shift would pass by. There was a great deal of interest in the display and many staff members picked up leaflets. We avoided interrupting the meal breaks by ensuring that there were leaflets available on all the canteen tables so that employees could read them or take them as they wanted.

Some staff took the opportunity of asking detailed questions but, as always, we were careful to warn that we were not offering medical advice. It was comforting to find that many men were prostate aware and had had PSA tests.

Thanks to the organiser within the Depot, Chloe Loughlin, the event had already been well advertised. We left a supply of leaflets with her for further distribution.
