SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE,OR DO THEY?

There was a sense of déjà vu at Cove this evening as Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers took on Fleet United in the quarter final of the County’s Golden Pairs event. They found themselves playing on the same rink as had our men, last night, and like the men they made a poor start, soon trailing 10-1. By 10 ends the Oakley duo were 12-4 down but a score of three on the 12th end gave them hope and although a further three was scored on the 15th end, Fleet United still entered the last end with a 14-12 lead. An exciting last end saw the jack end up at the edge of the rink and somehow Sue and Janie conjured up the necessary three that will see them play the County semifinal at Banister Park on 6th August when they will hope to repeat their 2023 success in lifting the title. All four players are to be congratulated onroviding an absorbing match. Commiserations Fleet and good luck to Oakley in the semi-final.
