Oxford University Press Bowls Club
Newsletter No. 1 - 2018
Hello bowlers. Here we are again. We hope you have had a lovely Christmas and that you haven't succumbed to the ghastly flu virus that's about. At this time of year we are not usually doing much, but thanks to the purchase of the short mat, most of us have kept in touch. Don't forget Tuesdays are short mat fun night at the club, so why not come along and join us. The short mat group had a get together in December with seasonal fare and this was an evening enjoyed by all.
We have arranged a social evening on the 10th February at 8pm. Tickets are £5 per person and all proceeds are to be donated to Macmillan Cancer Charity. The guest artist is Bill James, formerly keyboard player with Brian Poole and the Tremeloes. A few of us have seen him perform and he is well worth the ticket cost.
The evening with Bill James was wonderful. Some 60+ came and with the supper, raffle and music, it was a very successful evening with lots of dancing and singing. At the end of the evening £207 had been raised for Macmillan Cancer Charity. Our thanks go to all who attended for their generosity.
We are in the process of training two extra coaches, and with the Bowls Development Alliance support we are looking forward to recruiting new bowlers.
