Penton Grafton Parish Council Allotments

A brief history of Weyhill Bottom Allotments

The Parish Council through the Penton Grafton Cottage Charity have set up the new allotments at Weyhill Bottom. Currently in their first year of cultivation the 20 plots are all taken by Local People.

The Parish Council initially rented the land from the Ewelme Trust and eventually purchased it in 2013. It took over a year to prepare the land, creating additional car parking, installing rabbit fencing and getting the field cleared ready to mark out the plots. The first allotments were allocated late November 2014. The rent is £52 a year and this includes a shed on each plot and a communal shed for additional storage.

The Parish Council will encourage the Allotment Holders to set up an Allotment Society to manage the facility.
