PMP Cancer Research

Pseudomyxoma peritonei cancer is a very rare type of cancer that affects the peritoneal cavity (the abdomen and pelvis).

This website is intended to raise awareness of PMP Cancer, sometimes referred to as “Jelly Belly” and to raise funds to continue the research being carried out by a small team of specialists at Basingstoke Hospital in Hampshire.

The research project is working in conjunction with a specialist medical team operating and treating patients within Basingstoke Hospital. Basingstoke is only one of two hospitals in the UK able to treat and care for patients with this rare type of cancer.

PMP Cancer is a form of cancer which affects only a small percentage of the population and accordingly does not attract public attention and support in the same way that childhood cancers, lung cancer, breast cancer, lymphoma and leukemia does.

For people suffering from pmp cancer it is still very important that research and treatment continues to improve their condition and life expectancy.
