Mr Steven Warden Mr Steven Warden

Steven, our current Treasurer, has been a Probarian for quite some years now. After leaving secondary education in 1966 he completed his engineering apprenticeship at Elequip Ltd in South Wigston. After attaining his City & Guilds qualification, he joined the army Corp of Royal Engineers. Having enjoyed a life of uniform and discipline, he left the army to return to employment in engineering. However, after the open air life in the army, returning to an enclosed factory didn’t suit Steven so he left engineering altogether to join the NHS Leicestershire ambulance service in 1979. The rest of Steven’s working life was spent serving the community in the ambulance service. He witnessed several major changes in the local ambulance service. The last one being the introduction of the Paramedic grade of staff in 1988 which lead to the introduction of the Air Ambulance a couple of years later. Steven was one of the first ambulance staff to be trained as a Paramedic in 1988. The following year he was invited to become a Justice of the Peace and remains so to this day. Having risen through the ranks, Steven retired form the Ambulance Service as a Group Station Officer. In retirement he continued his role as a JP, Joined the British Red Cross to take a lead in training their ambulance volunteers, learnt to play various musical instruments and is a Bowls England level 2 coach for lawn bowls. Sitting around is not Steven’s style.
