Reading Haydn Choir is a friendly and enthusiastic amateur choir, based in Reading, Berkshire, UK
We enjoy singing together, and have developed a reputation for the quality of our concerts, usually employing professional musicians, as well as the diversity of the works we perform.
Whilst setting high standards for our singing, we set great store on being an inclusive, not exclusive, group.
Originally formed in 1970 to sing liturgical music in a church setting, the choir now sings a variety of music in four or five concerts each year in and around Reading. Recent concerts have included Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Judas Maccabeus, Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass, Bach's Magnificat, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, and a variety of works by British composers including Elgar, Rutter, Jenkins, Vaughan Williams, Britten and Chilcott.
The choir practises each Thursday evening under the expert guidance of our Musical Director, Mandy Kesel. Mandy has directed the choir for since 1989, ably supported by our accompanist, organist and occasional tenor, Ian Westley.
