Safeguarding Introduction

Romsey Bowling Club (RBC) is committed to Safeguarding Adults and Children in line with national and local legislation.

RBC aims to provide a safe, structured, inclusive, friendly environment for all members.

We will safeguard adults/children by ensuring that our activities are delivered in a way which keeps everyone safe.

Policy Statement

Romsey Bowling Club is committed to ensuring that everyone who participates in bowls can do so in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment. All participants are entitled to feel safe and protected from any form of abuse and neglect. RBC believes that everyone has the right to live free from abuse or neglect regardless of age, ability or disability, sex, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, marital or gender status.

We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment and an open, listening culture where people feel able to share concerns without the fear of retribution.

RBC acknowledges that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and is committed to prevent abuse and neglect through safeguarding the welfare of all involved.

We recognise that health, well-being, ability, disability and the need for care and support can affect a persons’ resilience and that some people experience barriers, for example, to communication in raising concerns or seeking help.

RBC recognises that there is a legal framework within which sports needs to work to safeguard those who need care and support and for protecting those who are unable to take action to protect themselves and we will act in accordance with the relevant safeguarding legislation and local procedures. 

We acknowledge that all safeguarding concerns must be reported to Bowls England’s Lead Safeguarding Officer for advice. 

Actions taken by Romsey Bowling Club will be consistent with the principles of safeguarding ensuring that any action taken is prompt, proportionate and that it includes and respects the voice of the individual concerned.
